August 29th, 1895, saw the first notation of (nurse) included in the register. About this time
also, Christian names of those attending the births were recorded. Prior to this the records
showed only a title (Mrs) and surname. We have no way of knowing if Mrs Allport (for example)
was the only one of that name delivering babies at the time, so the inclusion of first
names is a boon for anyone researching local history.
